So much to cover here! So confusing, but the gist of it: routing audio between apps in windows. Yeah yeah yeah, you Mac guys actually have something over on us!

In case you were wondering why you didn’t hear audio when HiFi Cable was active in OBS, its because I hadn’t turned on “output and monitor” in advanced audio for that input in OBS, which brings me to another long, long rant that I am too tired to get into right now
