As detailed before in the Two Path Philosophy, modern guitar players using modelling amps usually will need one output that goes to the PA system, so it needs the speaker simulator in the signal, and another output, without a speaker simulator, that goes to a regular guitar amp. This is often feigned to be news to many manufacturers. It is almost never something that is advertised, nor understood by most of the “experts” you run into on social media or guitar forums. It isn’t even usually able to be devined from the device manuals. So I’m going to work on a list.
Atomic Amps
Boss
Katana – not sure, please let me know!
GT1 – not sure, please let me know!
GT1000 – not sure, please let me know!
Headrush
Line 6
Firehawk FX – no. In fact the cryptic descriptions for the output modes for this thing should result in criminal prosecution. Line 6 obviously knows about this issue, maybe its just crippleware against the cheaper units
Firehawk 1500 – I don’t think so
Amplifi 75/150 – These don’t even have line outs, and worse, as told in My Review, these things have some REALLY screwy things going on.
Amplifi FX100/ TT – nope
HD 500/ HD 50X – These seem to be able to do it by using their dual paths
Helix – Most definitely. Some of the best routing out there to me!
Spider amps – I know they have emulated outputs, if anyone knows if you can have the cab on on the output without affecting the combo amp’s own speaker output, please let me know
Fractal Audio
AXE FX2/3 – Yes, and the developer actually acknowledges how important this is
AX8 – not sure, please let me know!
FX8 – not sure, please let me know!
Fender
Fender Mustang series – Nope. There is a way to fool it into this, but wow and not using its internal processing
Mooer
Positive Grid
Bias Head/ Rack/ Mini Hardware – not sure, please let me know!
Bias Head Software – Nope
Bias FX software -Bias FX 1 not so much, but sort of, Bias FX 2, after I wrote my letter to Positive grid, a little bit better with the movable cabinet/IR block (can be used to make acoustic sims too!). Still could require you to lose the dual path system (as you’d need to use it for the two options) but with the new “scenes” you can still get near instant switching without using the path switcher (I wish they made this in hardware!
